It's interesting what we think about when we are free to think about whatever we want. It's interesting what we do when we are free to do whatever we want. Actually, it could be scary. That's what this 'Pastor's Page' affords. Within reason, I can use this space to talk about and do with whatever I wish. But even with that freedom, I find myself thinking about preaching once again. That's what I want to talk about because that's what I wrestle with.
One of the biggest leaps of faith in my life is to begin a work week and to know and trust God that there will be a sermon at the end of it. No, not just any sermon, but one that peaks some interest, meets a need, holds up truths, and allows God's Word to do it's own cutting and healing. If the sermon does not do all of these things, one is still better than none. That is a leap of faith everytime.
So, I wish to use this space to remind you that I think about this a lot. You think about it on Sunday at 10:30 a.m., and perhaps for a little while afterward wonder if the minister takes preaching as seriously as you do. I assure you, I do.
I will regularly put articles here that help us consider what preaching is, does, and how it is going. My purpose in doing so is to encourage us to do this together. Blessings.
